Dragons defeat Panthers to secure historic club championship

THE St Georges Basin Dragons created history on Saturday by securing their maiden Shoalhaven District Football Association first grade club championship.

The milestone was secured by a thrilling 3-1 win for the Dragons against Milton-Ulladulla at the St Georges Basin Sporting Complex.

Ivan Katusa’s fourth goal of the season gave the Panthers a 1-nil lead at half-time – an advantage they until late in the second half.

Just when it appeared Daniel Todeschini’s troops were going to inflict the Dragons their first loss of the season, the host kicked it up a gear.

Luke Reid equalised before goals from Benjamin Cubbo and Tyrone Nye-Williams – all in the final 15 minutes – secured Craig Holden’s side their seven victory in 2020.

“We are absolutely over the moon to have claimed the competition championship,” said Paul Cubbo, Coaching Director, highlighting the brilliant work of coach Craig Holden, said.
